Waterford Treasures – Three Museums in the Viking Triangle is delighted to announce that it will mount an exhibition celebrating 300 years of the Roberts family in Waterford from August to the end of November 2014. The exhibition entitled Architects, Artists and Armymen will shine a light on a remarkable family who contributed so much to the city. Thomas Roberts (1748-1777) is justly regarded as the finest Irish landscape painter of the 18th century, which is doubly noteworthy considering his short life. His father ‘Honest’ John Roberts is the architect who transformed Waterford in the 18th century into a grand Georgian city.
