How long do I need for my visit?

A visit will take about one to two hours depending on your interests, our guided tours take 45 minutes and you are free to roam the museum after the tour.  The three museums are within five minutes walk of each other and a one minute walk to Waterford Crystal.

Is there public car parking nearby?

The nearest public car park is less than 3 minutes away in Bolton Street Public Car Park. Alternatively, there is on-street parking (pay by meter) on the Quays, the Mall, Parnell Street and City Square Shopping Centre all within easy walking distance. There are public blue badge disabled parking spaces available in most of these areas.

Is there coach parking?

Coach set down is on the Mall outside Bishop’s Palace.  Free coach parking and free coach cleaning in Bolton Street Car park

Do I need to book?

No, there is no requirement to book for individuals, however, it is advisable that groups book in advance and bookings can be made through bookings@waterfordcouncil.ie

  • Pushchairs/strollers can be left at the museum entrance, at the museum’s discretion, as there is limited space. Owners are responsible for pushchairs left unattended. Please contact reception when you arrive to arrange this.

  • Large backpacks, bags or suitcases should be left with reception in order to facilite easy of access through the museum.

  • Hand-held cameras may be used throughout the Bishop’s Palace, however the use of flash, video cameras, tripods and other digital equipment is not permitted.
  • Photographs taken in the Bishop’s Palace can only be used for personal use. Commercial use of any kind is not permitted.

  • Sketching and drawing is always welcome.
