Meagher of theSword – Performed by the Montana Shamrockers
Beloved yet controversial, Thomas Francis Meagher’s colorful lifetime of adventure spans two cultures and four continents. Irish patriot, designer of Ireland’s tricolor flag, escapee from Van Diemen’s Land, distinguished Civil War general and finally Montana’s first acting territorial governor, his 1867 disappearance in Ft. Benton remains a mystery. The bigger-than-life story behind the statue gracing the Montana State Capital’s front lawn magically unfolds here through folklore, relevant music and Meagher’s own words.
“The best damn Irish history program I’ve ever seen in my life!” – Prof. David Kearns, PhD, History.
As part of the 1848 Tricolour Celebrations, performing in the Garden Room of the Medieval Museum on Friday the 3rd of March at 3.00pm.
This is a ‘free’ event to the public.
